French Medical Center - Hair Transplant Men

Men have always tried to fight partial or complete hair loss known as baldness. Statistics show that it affects 1 man over 2 after the age of 50, 30% of men aged between 40 and 50 and 20% below the age of 40. The only procedure leading to a long lasting solution is hair implant, currently available in two techniques:

1) Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique:

Principle
Under local anesthesia, follicular units are taken one by one, leaving no scar, then they are inserted in an implanter that places them directly in the bald area (a maximum of 5000 hairs in one session).

Advantages

  • Undetectable scars in the donor area
  • Painless technique
  • Integration of micro-grafts in the receiver zone
  • Lost follicles limitation pre and post-surgery
  • No pre or post-surgical tests required

Disadvantages

  • Long procedure 3 to 5 hours

2) Micro-grafting technique

Principle
Under local anesthesia, a fine scalp strip is taken in the occipital zone (where hair never falls) and is fractioned into micro-grafts of 1 to 5 hairs.

Advantage
Covers a large zone in one session (4000-8000 hairs in 2 or 4 hours)

Disadvantage
Leaves a fine scar, hardly detectable, only when hair is cut very short

French Medical Center - Hair Transplant Women
