Perfect Legs

Having perfect legs thanks to aesthetic surgery

Dr. Eric Plot - October 23rd, 2015

Liposuction has always been used to get rid of localized fat such as love handles and fat accumulated in the behind. Today we can do more than that. Thanks to liposuction we are able to redefine the leg. In that case we must practice soft liposuction associated with another technique that goes by the name: Lipotripsy.

ASSOCIATING LIPOTRIPSY TECHNIQUE WITH LIPOSUCTION TO REDEFINE THE LEGS

Lipotripsy consists of destroying fat cells, in this case removing cellulite embedded in a thin layer under the skin. Associated with a circumferential liposuction and performed with a fine cannula so that the tissues are redistributed, this technique – developed by my colleague from Bordeaux Dr Delonca – allows to redraw and reshape the legs.

HIGHLIGHTING THE LEG, REFINING THE ANKLE

This procedure is performed under general anesthesia, outpatient or overnight clinic and lasts two hours; there is little postoperative pain, rather a feeling of heaviness that involves the wearing of stockings for some time. The combination liposuction-lipotripsy allows to remove on average 1.9l of fat on a pair of legs. After that, the legs are highlighted, the muscles are released from the fat and the ankles are redrawn.

FOR A SOFT AND GOOD LIPOSUCTION

We can refine the calves and ankles with a soft liposuction but it is important to make sure beforehand that in the case of ankles, the weight of the leg is the result of excess fat and not a problem of blood circulation or water retention inside the body, therefore a Systematic Venous Doppler makes it easier to determine what the real issue is.

I find the reputation that is associated to the liposuction of the calves and ankles a bit unjustified. That is why, a year after my first article on the subject, I found it useful to talk about this technique that I used frequently with excellent results.
